Everwave und Riddle Me This 10.02.18 in Tampere (Finnland)

Acht Uhr Einlass – zehn nach acht bin ich an der Eingangstür der Bar. Drinnen die Hauptband und ein Barkeeper, ansonsten niemand. Hab ich mir die Zeit etwa falsch gemerkt? Nein, das Plakat neben mir sagt auch acht Uhr. Also doch mal vorsichtig schauen ob man mich schon rein lässt. Die Tür ist zumindest offen. Nach einem kurzen Moment kommt dann auch die Kassiererin, ich bin schlicht und ergreifend die erste die sich heute hier her verirrt hat. Selbst die andere Band ist irgendwo anders hin verschwunden.

Die Zeit vergeht und die Anzahl der Besucher steigt kaum. Zu Beginn der ersten Band sind es immer noch nur ca. 20 Leute. Da fehlen mir doch echt die Worte, für gerade einmal 5 € könnte man sich hier zwei  wirklich gute junge Bands anhören, also warum ist kaum jemand hier? „Riddle Me This“ bemühen sich redlich, aber viel Stimmung will bei trotzdem nicht aufkommen, außer mir und einer anderen Fotografin ist niemand vor der Bühne. Das Publikum sitzt schweigend an ihren Tischen, mitgesungen oder wenigsten mitgeklatscht wird hier nicht, manchen scheint es sogar zu viel Aufwand zu sein am Ende eines Songs zu applaudieren. Nach 45 Minuten verlassen die fünf die Bühne, ich bin fast schon erleichtert,  die Jungs taten mir irgendwie leid, es muss doch frustrierend sein, wenn man sich so bemüht und eigentlich gar keine Reaktion vom Publikum zurückbekommt.

Umbaupause, ich schreibe jeden den ich in Tampere und Umgebung kenne an; Es muss sich doch irgendwie Publikum auftreiben lassen! Das hilft aber auch nicht.

Selbst zu Beginn von „Everwave“ ist die Bar nicht mal ansatzweiße voll und vor der Bühne steht sowieso immer noch niemand.  Die Jungs stellen hier Ihren neuen Bassisten, Joona Niemi vor – der hier seine erste Show mit „Everwave“ spielt – und weil Finnen Plastikeimer lieben und die Spannung so auch viel größer ist kommt er erst mit einem Eimer auf dem Kopf auf die Bühne. Die Haare fliegen wie wild durch die Luft, allerdings auch wieder nur auf der Bühne. Ca. eine Stunde geben die Jungs alles und, oh Wunder, beim letzten Song sind dann endlich zwei (!) Leute vor der Bühne und feiern wirklich mit.

Ich bin ehrlich gesagt enttäuscht, nicht von den Bands, aber vom Publikum. Für eine Stadt dieser Größe (230.000 Einwohner) sind gerade mal 46 Besucher schon traurig.

English:

Eight o’clock entry – ten past eight I’m at the door of the bar. Inside are the main band and a bartender, no one else. Did I remember the time wrong? No, the poster next to me says eight o’clock as well. So I carefully check if they let me in already. The door is at least open. After a short moment, the cashier arrives. I am simply the first one arriving. Even the other band disappeared to some other place.

Time passes and the number of visitors hardly rises. At the beginning of the first band there are still only about 20 people. I’m speechless, for just 5 € you could listen to two really good young bands, so why is hardly anyone here? “Riddle Me This” are trying their best, but there’s still not much atmosphere, except me and another photographer, no one is in front of the stage. The audience is sitting in silence at their tables, no singing or clapping takes place here, for some it even seems to be too much effort to applaud at the end of a song. After 45 minutes, the five leave the stage and I’m almost relieved, as I felt kinda sorry for the guys. It must be frustrating, to try so hard and get almost no reaction from the audience.

 

Changeover, I write to everyone I know in Tampere and the surrounding area; There must be a way to get some people here! But that does not help either.

Even at the beginning of “Everwave”, the bar isn’t crowded at all and of course there is still nobody standing in front of the stage. The guys introduce their new bass player, Joona Niemi – who plays his first show with “Everwave” here – and because Finns love plastic buckets and the suspense is so much bigger, he comes onto the stage with a bucket on his head. The hair is flying wildly through the air, but again only on stage. They play for approximately an hour and give everything and – oh wonder – during the last song there are finally two (!) people in front of the stage who really celebrate.

I’m actually disappointed, not by the bands, but by the audience. For a city of this size (230,000 inhabitants) just 46 visitors is really sad.
